ANZAC DAY 2012

Another dawn service begins with many still rugged up in the warmth of their beds and ends with the Last Post sounding out into the empty streets, echoing across the crisp still air.

The Oz Poetic Society would like to honour those serving, those who have served and those who shall never grow old.

We have posted The Ode as a tribute, and for all to share. You can view The Ode by clicking this link.

Weekly Poem Submissions

Regarding Weekly Poem submissions: please do not submit your entire collective works in the space of a couple of hours to a couple of days. This creates a back log that inevitably slows down the review process.

Keep in mind that you may submit a poem a week for consideration as the Weekly Poem if you are a new or a previously unsuccessful contributor. All successful contributors incur a two week grace period where no new submissions will be accepted. This policy allows each contributor an equal and fair opportunity.

Remember, if you have any questions you can contact us via the links on our website.

Update: New Site

Hi,

A quick progress report regarding the new Oz Poetic Society web site design…

  • some minor issues have shown up during testing that have required re-addressing.
  • members’ section nearing completion.
  • complete site test is expected to be only a few weeks down the road.

There is a possibility that during testing, you may encounter some minor disturbances in regards to accessing the site. In the event such disturbances occur, they are not expected to exceeded a couple of minutes.

We do apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

A Look Back: Part 3

We are progressing along extremely well, with around 15% to complete before testing, it looks promising that the site will be made public around August-September.

When testing begins… the bugs ironed out, a more definite release date will be set. Needless to say, we all have experienced from time to time in our travels, the odd hiccup or gremlin. Although we can’t predict such an occurrence, we can anticipate and hopefully minimize the disruption.

In our “Look Back” series, we are looking at the period 2007-2009 (version 4). Some minor changes included:

  • Addition of RSS Feed
  • Addition of Rhyming Dictionary
  • Additional content (Tips & Reviews + Members)
  • New Logo

Don’t forget to keep an eye out for our final installment in the series.

A Look Back: Part 2

Part II of our look back series.

Version 2 was in essence, the same as the original with a few added resources. It wasn’t until version 3 of the site that the introduction of the following were finally implemented after somewhat of a delay.

  • Daily Poem
  • Open Microphone Guide
  • Forum
  • The Curious Record (link only)
  • Members’ Section

Version 3 remained in operation from 2003 – 2006.

Keep an eye out for our next installment in the series.
